Basic information: Was Mountain Pearl performance tested? Yes! He passed inspection and performance testing by the Irish Horse Board and Irish Draught Horse Society of Ireland in 1994. What did he do in Ireland and when did he come to the United States? After passing his performance test in 1993 Mountain Pearl stood stud at Annamacneil Stud, County Monoghan until we brought him to America in late 1997. How tall is Mountain Pearl? He stands 17.1 hands How old is he? Mountain Pearl was foaled in County Cork, Ireland in 1989. His sire was Mountain View and he is out of a Bantry Pearl mare. More about his bloodlines. Has Mountain Pearl been shown? Although he was trained, and performance tested as a young stallion, he concentrated on his stud duties in Ireland and again here until 2003. We are a small, family breeding operation. It is very hard for us to get away from the day to day tasks of caring for our mares and foals to show him. However, in 2003 we found Sarah Hauschild. She took on his refresher training and showed him in dressage, in-hand, and competed in a horse trial in 2004. He did very well for a 15 year old rookie, and won the USDF Grand Champion Breeding Stallion for the West Central Series. Unfortunately, competition and breeding schedules don't mix well, so he stayed home again in 2005. He'll probably leave competing to his offspring, but you never know. What else has Mountain Pearl done? He has shown at various expos and horse fairs around the Midwest including the Midwest Horse Fair in Madison Wisconsin, Minnesota Horse Expo in St. Paul, Iowa Horse Fair and Rare Breed Show in Iowa, and Equitana USA in Louisville KY. To be more precise, he has shown off at these events as he loves people and crowds - especially when they are looking at him! What have his offspring accomplished? Wow, that's a short question with a long answer! So click here to see. Breeding information: Can Mountain Pearl's foals be registered? Definitely. All of his foals are eligible for registry with the Irish Draught Horse Society of North America and with the Irish Horse Board in Ireland. Other registries may also be available depending on the breed of your mare. Where does Mountain Pearl stand stud? Starting mid-May 2007 he will be at Longwood Stud, County Sligo, Ireland What other breeds has Mountain Pearl crossed with? See some examples of his offspring by various breeds of mares here. Is there a video of Mountain Pearl and his offspring? Yes! In fact, there are a couple of short videos available right here on this web site. We also have a longer video on DVD we are happy to mail to you. Just contact us and we will send one right out. I can't breed, so how can I find a Mountain Pearl horse to buy?
